Patient Participation Group (PPG)

Our PPG group is formed of Patient's of The Elms Medical Centre, who wish to support us with the continuing development of our surgery.
PPG members help support change and improve how we deliver health care to our patients at The Elms.

Our PPG is composed of 7 patients who meet and discuss with Fiona (Business Manager) Dr B Harrison (Salaried GP Partner) & Liam (Operations Manager) every 4 months, with continual contact through-out the year in focus groups along with informal catch-ups.  We advertise our PPG via our website, poster in practice and more recently via The Elms Medical Centre's social media account.

During last years meetings (2024-2025) we found that Health Promotion and Prevention were re-occurring topics of conversations, therefore we along with the PPG members have agreed this will remain at the forefront of our agreed objective. We agreed that whilst there were lots of possible projects, they must be achievable within realistic timescales and will be rolling process; constantly reviewed at our meetings.

We are always looking for new members to join our PPG for a true representation of all different patients.  If you would like to become a member of our Patient Participation Group, please email your request to: GP.N82070@nhs.net

Our current improvement areas are:

  • Digital Services: Enable patients to utilise digital resources and manage their health through the NHS app, including ordering prescriptions, managing appointments and referrals, getting advice and preparing them for the national roll out of the NHS passport. Improve digital inclusion whilst being mindful, not exclude those who do not want to engage with digital services.
  • Health Promotion & Prevention: Raise awareness around current health issues, how to access services and promote the right person at the right time philosophy. Improve communication amongst the practice and the patient population, improving access and reducing inequalities and ultimately improve health outcomes.
  • Sustainability and Greener healthcare: Encompassing all aspects of sustainability including how we access the practice, processes within practice, reducing our carbon footprint and greener medicines.
